Small Successes Amongst the Stress

Today, I had a few moments of success, joy, accomplishment, etc. In the amidst of all the stress over my placement and the uncertainty I feel, I think it is even more important to recognize such moments and the positive things.

Usually, I think it is a little easier to appreciate the small things here because life simply moves slower and it is nearly impossible to walk around here without smiling at its beauty or many quirks.

1. I set up (kind of) plans to talk to Ana Cecilia tomorrow.

2. While on the phone with a woman who had previously made reservations, we eventually began speaking english but before she hung up she said that she wanted me to know that I was doing a very good job and that she knows she was speaking quickly. She encouraged me to keep it up.

3. Before leaving CAP for the day, I was talking to Martha and she commented on my spanish and said I have been practicing.

4. I crafted! ISA hosted a craft class for us and we sculpted and painted little humming birds. It was so fun and I think mine turned out kinda decent.

5. I got to talk to my grandparents.

6. I stayed within my budget when picking up a few groceries at the store I walked to and found all by myself.

7. Costa Rica won the game tonight versus Panama. This is personal but just fun.

I'm glad that God continues to reveal himself to me and doesn't let me become consumed in my own worries. This is always a work in progress but here, it is easy to see His beauty (and equally challenging?).

  1. Oh and one thing I forgot.
While talking to my grandparents, I asked about my great uncle who has been in the hospital and struggling with Leukemia. My grandma said, "It's like a miracle." He is doing much better and there is talk of a blood maro transplant again which had been ruled out. :) God is good.
